The Council of Seniors is a national nonprofit educational and advocacy program. The Council conducts independent research on Social Security, taxation, and other seniors issues, then disseminates this information to policymakers, the media and citizens with the goal of improving the lives of all Americans.
We encourage all citizens to be informed about the issues, as well as where our elected officials stand, and to communicate with them regularly. To increase public awareness and participation in the policy making process, we monitor legislation, publish reports, carry out national petition drives and direct mail campaigns.
As an independent program, the Council of Seniors relies on private contributions from many individual donors across the country to fund its work. Because it is regulated under the rules for 501(c)(4) organizations that lobby on behalf of their supporters, federal income tax deductions are not allowed for gifts to the Council.
